Retirement Horse Boarding

Hand walk around the farm

Quiet and Private
Heritage Lane Farm is a quaint 15 acres beautifully secluded with an abundance of towering white pines and mature oak trees.

The oversized pond is home to an orchestra of bull frogs, geese, and various song birds that serenade us from dawn til' dusk. We love taking our horses for an after-bath-stroll along the shaded path that meanders around the pond.

Low-stress Herd Size
At Heritage Lane Farm we will only have up to 6 horses on the farm at any time. This means your beloved friend will be treated as our own. Our selective, long-term care environment will provide a consistent, low-stress life.

Small herd sizeIt is often said that a horse is happiest when he lives in his most natural environment - roaming with his herd. I find most horses do not want to be isolated or spend most of their day in a stall. We know horses roam free in nature, where they bond together with their herd. I never took that to heart more than when I saw my OTTB transition from his former life to being out 24/7. Calvin went from being anxious and on edge, to calm and relaxed within weeks of his arrival.

At Heritage Lane Farm we are blessed with an abundance of mature shade trees and fertile soil that equates to good grass from late spring to early fall. In early fall we begin supplementing with high quality free choice hay.

Stall Building Progress at our retirement horse boarding facility in Northern Illinois. Stall Boarding in Northern Illinois for Retirement Horses

Barn
We are putting the finishing touches on our newly built 5 stall barn with tack room, feed room and wash bay. It will include all the amenities to keep your horse happy and comfortable in inclement weather.

Our Home is your Horses Home
This is our home, not just a boarding facility. With a small herd and long term care, our horses are able to establish set herd dynamics and thus relax. With this in mind the minimum required boarding period is one year.

We are for you if you desire an intimate and quiet barn - located on a private drive. As a small retirement farm we are able to offer the most inclusive care - not a variety of packages. Our small herd roams well-maintained and bountifully shaded pasture. We offer the most hands on care, within a private setting. We are accepting applicants for our full service pasture board with a dedicated stall for inclement weather at $550 per month.
