Chickens
Barnyard Chicks:
At Heritage Lane Farm we create and sell an ideal homesteading type laying hen for you. Our barnyard chicks are from hardy, prolific egg laying hens, covered by a large, dual purpose rooster - passing on these egg laying abilities with dual purpose meat production. These chicks are second generation free from vaccines, antibiotics, and fed a mix of organic feed, while free ranging daily. Sold at varying ages.
Our mix come from a cold tolerant, exceptionally quiet, gentle, and easy to handle Brahma rooster that our kids adore. He covers a variety of hens:
- Brahma (Brown)
- French Black Maran (Chocolate Brown)
- Gold Lace Wyandotte (Brown)
- Silver Laced Wyandotte (Brown)
- Rhode Island Red (Brown)
- Easter Egger (Green, Blue, Pink)
- Brown Leghorn (White)
- Olive Egger (Olive Green)
These chicks will grow to primarily lay varying hues of dark brown, brown, to light brown eggs, with a chance of olive, blue or pink hues mixed in.
Non-sexed chicks:
- 1-7 days old: $10
- 7-14 days old: $12
- 14-30 days old: $15
- 1 month-2 months old: $20
- 3 months to 6 months: $25
Hatching Eggs:
Hatching eggs are a mix of Barnyard fertilized eggs. These eggs are second generation free from vaccines, antibiotics, and fed a mix of organic feed and free range daily. Sold by the dozen without guarantee of sex. One box of a dozen fertilized eggs: $25
Our hatch rates have been over 90% with our own eggs using a standard incubator. We can not guarantee hatch rate due to conditions that effect hatch rate; jostling during transport, improper handing and/or storage, inconsistent temperature and humidity during incubation, and other variables once out of our care. For best results, please wait 24 hours before incubating to allow hatching eggs to settle from movement incurred during transportation.
